Bangladesh Coast Guard arrested a man along with 20 maunds of deer meat in a drive at Bihango Island of Patharghata upazila in Barguna on Saturday night.

The arrestee is identified as Abdus Sobhan, 56.

Coast Guard Patharghata Staion Commander Lieutenant Bishwajit said that acting on a tip-off, a team of Coast Guard conducted the drive at the area around 11.30 pm and detained the man along with the venison.

An engine-run boat was also seized during the drive, the official added.

He said that the meat will be handed over to the forest department after legal process, adding that legal action will be taken against the detainee in this connection.
